Additionally, the organization hosts annual programs and events such as the Gardening Symposium and the Jubilee Festival of Heritage. As an advocate for the preservation of Columbia and Richland County's built history, Historic Columbia works closely with city and county officials to ensure proper protection is provided to structures with cultural and historical importance.

Rental Coordinator

Position Summary:

The Rental Coordinator is responsible for actively pursuing and managing rental contracts for Historic Columbia’s four historic rental venues including one National Historic Landmark and South Carolina’s only presidential site. The Rental Coordinator will oversee all aspects of the rental process including logistics, revenue management, and communications with the public, clients, vendors and Historic Columbia Facilities and Grounds staff. This is a part-time position, 25 – 30 hours per week to include some weekend and evenings.

Responsibilities:

Coordinate rentals of Historic Columbia’s 4 rental properties: Seibels House & Gardens, Hampton-Preston Mansion & Gardens, Robert Mills House & Gardens and the Woodrow Wilson Family Home

Schedule and oversee rental staff.

Work with facilities, grounds and custodial staff to ensure that buildings and grounds meet highest standards for client satisfaction and protection of the historic properties.

Manage HC rental calendar and coordinate rental event logistics with staff.

Cultivate awareness of Historic Columbia and its event rental venues through market research, sales prospecting, and public relations.

Qualifications:

Three to five years’ work experience in a sales environment, preferably leasing or event management.

Excellent organizational, customer relationship management and communication skills.

Proven sales skills.

Adept at multitasking, ability to work independently and as a team player.

Proficient in the use of computers, MS Office applications including Excel and Publisher, experience with Altru or other membership database helpful.

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.

Rental Assistant

Position Summary:

The Rental Assistant represents Historic Columbia as the staff on-site during events, such as weddings, rehearsals, rehearsal dinners, corporate functions, fundraisers, etc, and remains available to the rental client for the duration of the event. The Rental Assistant is responsible for ensuring the rules and regulations of Historic Columbia are followed by rental clients, for answering and solving any facility or property related questions and issues, and for responding to emergency situations in an appropriate manner.

Responsibilities and Qualifications:

* Must have excellent communications skills, to interact with all vendors and rental clients during the event, as well as coordination through email and phone with Rental Coordinator for the requirements and details for the specific events to which the assistant is assigned

* Must be able to maintain email and phone access to communicate with the Rental Coordinator during the week and during the events to which the assistant is assigned

* Prior event/wedding experience or customer service experience required

* Must have professional demeanor and appearance at all times

* Must be flexible and accommodating, but assertive when necessary

* Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
