Jubilee: Festival of Black History & Culture
Celebrating the rich cultural heritage and entrepreneurial spirit of a local family, the Jubilee: Festival of Black History & Culture is held annually in late summer on the grounds of the historic Mann-Simons Site. Jubilee features a variety of activities including hands-on demonstrations from some of the region’s most skilled artists and craftsmen, musical entertainment including African drumming, R&B, jazz, and gospel, and vendors with African-influenced and traditional merchandise. Highlights of the festival also include tours of the Mann-Simons Site, African American heritage sites tours, and many other activities throughout the day. The 38th annual Jubilee: Festival of Black History & Culture will be held on September 17, 2016, so stay tuned to our calendar for more details.
Scarecrows in the Garden
From wacky and scary to traditional and historical, enjoy viewing handcrafted scarecrows from local businesses, organizations, youth groups, individuals and families durhing this annual free exhibit. Take a leisurely stroll through our historic gardens, vote for your favorite scarecrow, participate in a scavenger hunt and help us find Sneaky Steve, our missing scarecrow. The Palladium Society's Bluegrass, Bidding & BBQ
Each fall, The Palladium Society brings great music, delicious food and the best silent auction in Columbia together in an historic setting at Bluegrass, Bidding & BBQ. Historic Holiday House Tours
Holiday Tours and a full lineup of family-friendly events are offered annually from mid-November through December. During this special time of year, we invite families, school groups, tourists and the community to visit our historic properties for guided tours. Our house museums are decorated and offer a glimpse into the lives of three different holiday social scenes set in 19th and early 20th century Columbia. Enjoy the greenery and decorative faux food throughout each house while guides provide stories of holidays past.

Do you love a bowl of “Famously Hot” chili? Cold beer? Great live music? Then join Historic Columbia each spring at The Palladium Society's annual Chili Cook-Off. One of HC's most popular events, the Chili Cook-Off is hosted by The Palladium Society and features a variety of chili recipes, judging by local celebrities, live music, and prizes for the winners.
