Jubilee: Festival of Heritage

Celebrating the rich cultural heritage and entrepreneurial spirit of a local family, the Jubilee: Festival of Heritage is held annually in August on the grounds of the historic Mann-Simons Site. Jubilee features a variety of activities including hands-on demonstrations from some of the region’s most skilled artists and craftsmen, musical entertainment including African drumming, R&B, jazz, and gospel, and vendors with African-influenced and traditional merchandise. Highlights of the festival also include tours of the Mann-Simons Site, African-American heritage sites tours, and many other activities throughout the day. Members of the media may view and download high-resolution event photos on our Flickr account. Stay tuned to our calendar to learn more about the 36th annual Jubilee: Festival of Heritage on Saturday, August 23, 2014, and become a Friend of Jubilee to support and sponsor this FREE community festival!

Holiday Tours

Holiday Tours and a full lineup of family-friendly events are offered annually from mid-November through December. During this special time of year, we invite families, school groups, tourists and the community to visit our historic properties for guided tours. Our house museums are decorated and use offers a glimpse into the lives of three different holiday social scenes set in 19th and early 20th century Columbia. Enjoy the greenery and decorative faux food throughout each house while guides provide stories of holidays past.

Annual holiday events include:

  • Historic House Tours,
