Historic Columbia Foundation Appreciates its Teachers

Columbia, S.C. – Historic Columbia Foundation invites educators to celebrate Black History Month during Teacher Appreciation Day on Thursday, February 5, from 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. at the Modjeska Monteith Simkins House, 2025 Marion Street. Historic Columbia will provide a variety of educational activities for teachers to introduce to students. Guests will experience an abbreviated bus tour of African-American Heritage Sites and a tour of the Mann-Simons Cottage, one of few remaining houses in South Carolina known to have been owned by free African Americans in the antebellum period. In addition, Historic Columbia will provide educational information on the Modjeska Monteith Simkins House, educational resources, and introduce a Traveling Trunk series.
