Holiday House Tours

Experience classic holidays during our tours of our decorated house museums: the Robert Mills House, Mann-Simons cottage and Hampton-Preston Mansion. Guides will provide stories of holidays past in Columbia and discuss how families decorated and entertained during the 19th and early 20th century. View a variety of holiday decorations in each house and stunning details of our faux food on display.

Greenery Workshop
Saturday, November 21
1 p.m. - 3 p.m.

Come to the historic Robert Mills house and  watch local experts give a hands-on demonstration on holiday decorating. The demonstration will show you how to decorate your own home with fresh greenery.

Candlelight and Carriage Tours
Friday, December 4
5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

This special holiday event will feature a lantern tour through the historic Robert Mills House. Each tour will be led by one of our costumed guides who will share stories about the holiday-decorated home and 19th-century holiday preparations. Enjoy a special holiday presentation with costumed guides during the tour.

After the tour, take a ride in a horse-drawn carriage through the holiday-lit Robert Mills Historic Garden District and learn more about the neighborhood's architecture and history.

Other activities include children's craft and musical performances.

Scout Day: Historic Holiday
Saturday, December 5
10 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Bring your Boy or Girl Scout to tour our three historic house museums, make a holiday craft, and enjoy cookies and hot chocolate with our Victorian Santa!

Choir Showcase and Free Tours
Saturday, December 5
Noon - 4 p.m.

Get in the holiday spirit with live musical performances from local youth choirs. Enjoy complimentary tours of our three decorated historic houses throughout the day.

Tiny Tots Tuesdays: Not a Creature was Stirring

11 a.m.

Celebrate the season with old-fashioned holiday crafts and games. Toddlers will enjoy making ornaments, playing musical games, listening to 'Twas the Night Before Christmas in the parlor of the decorated Robert Mills House, and other activities.  Also, visit with our Victorian Santa and have pictures taken or bring your own camera. 

Breakfast with Santa
Saturday, December 5
8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m

Your family will enjoy a continental breakfast with our Victorian Santa and have photographs made on site. Be sure to stay and enjoy a ride on a horse-drawn carriage.

Family Day: HO, HO, HO Holiday!
Saturday, December 19
10 a.m. - Noon

Come enjoy the holidays at the decorated Robert Mills House as children purchase items from "Elf Shelve" to secretly wrap for parents in Santa's Workshop. Our featured activities include making Victorian holiday decorations, learning about the history of the Christmas tree and a visit from a Victorian Santa. Finish your holiday fun by taking a ride in ride in our horse-drawn carriage.
