Grounds of the Mann-Simons Cottage

Once surrounded by structures including a store on either side of the main house, rental property to the north and support buildings such as a smokehouse and a privy, the Mann-Simons Cottage today stands within a landscape that bears little resemblance to its historic appearance. The front yard reflects the traditional plants and the swept-yard common among African-American homes of the late 19th through early 20th centuries.
