Preservation Leadership
Nominations in this category recognize an individual, corporation, governmental agency, community, or neighborhood association that has significantly contributed to the advancement of historic preservation in the community.
Traditional Building Arts
In recognition of the 50th anniversary of the historic preservation awards, Historic Columbia is announcing a new award category that will recognize leaders in the field of historic trades. Historic trades are the specialized, traditional skills, tools, and techniques used to maintain, restore, and rehabilitate historic structures, landscapes, and objects. Artisans in this field such as masons, carpenters, blacksmiths, window restorers, and plasterers, focus on conserving, rather than replacing, historic fabric, often using period-appropriate materials and methods.
