Tour Presentations: Master four house tours and relate information in a professional manner. Manage the flow of tours in a timely manner. Collect demographic information by using the Altru front desk system.
Safety and Security: Be familiar with safety procedures. Know where alarm panels, first aid kits, fire extinguishers are located. Open houses and grounds at the beginning of the day and secure and alarm them accurately at the end of the day. Maintain security of collections pieces by following established rules while giving tours. Exhibit good management techniques for guiding the visitors through the house museums.
Museum Shop: Become knowledgeable of merchandise and sales promotions. Use Altru software with proficiency to sell merchandise and tour tickets. Help keep shop tidy by sweeping and emptying trash if needed.
Sell memberships by informing visitors of the benefits of membership with Historic Columbia and of upcoming programming. Exhibit good customer service skills. Accurately prepare the day’s deposit and prepare the till for the next day.

Good interpersonal skills. Public speaking experience preferred. Must be able to work as a team with fellow weekend staff members.
