Join Historic Columbia for a two-day professional development workshop! We are adding an additional session this year to limit the number of participants and ensure proper social distancing practices. Join us on August 3rd and 4th OR August 6th and August 7th from 9am-3pm! Participants have the option to take part in-person or virtually*.
This year’s teacher workshop will explore the NEW 2020 Social Studies Standards, and Civil Rights and Intersectionality in South Carolina. Teachers will have the opportunity to develop curriculum materials aligned with the new standards to use in their classrooms. Participants will also be able to explore resources available for their classroom through Historic Columbia (including the reinterpretation project at Modjeska Monteith Simkins’ House), the South Carolina Historical Society, the South Carolina Geographic Alliance, South Carolina Collaborative for Race and Reconciliation, and the South Carolina Council for History Education. University of South Carolina's Dr. Valinda Littlefield will be joining us as the featured guest lecturer.
Continuing education credit is provided for this workshop. Registration includes lunch for both days and a t-shirt, and is $30 for Teacher Members and $35 for non-members.
*To register for the virtual option, please e-mail email@example.com. If you choose to participate virtually, you will be mailed the materials from the workshop, and you will be given access to a private link so that you can participate in the sessions live, or you can choose to watch a recording of the session at your leisure.
