Hampton-Preston Mansion & Gardens : 1615 Blanding Street, Columbia, SC 29201
Performers from the South Carolina Philharmonic will join Historic Columbia to present a beautiful concert of light classics in the gardens at the Hampton-Preston Mansion. This concert's quartet includes: David Parks, violin; Dan Ellis, oboe; Audrey Harris, viola; and Heidi Carey, cello.
Please plan to arrive any time after 5:00 p.m. The concert will begin at 6:00 p.m. and last an hour. Bring your own blanket or chairs, and pack a picnic if you'd like. Tickets are required and space is limited. Please note that this event is for those 21 & over.
Picnic Competition
As part of our extended partnership with Restaurant Week South Carolina – Midlands (October 2–12), Historic Columbia invites guests to take part in a festive Picnic Competition during Concert in the Gardens. Attendees are encouraged to curate their most fabulous picnic basket—whether it’s filled with gourmet bites, creative themes, or simply a beautiful spread to enjoy with friends. Judges will select the winning basket, and the prize package will include:
- Restaurant Week Midlands gift certificates
- Vouchers for The South Carolina Philharmonic Capital Concert Series and HC programs
- And additional surprise treats to make the celebration even sweeter!
This friendly competition is the perfect way to showcase culinary creativity, celebrate Columbia’s vibrant food scene, and enjoy an unforgettable evening of music and community in Historic Columbia’s gardens.
