Join us in the lush gardens of the Hampton-Preston Mansion for the 2026 Spring Plant Sale!

At one of two plant sales Historic Columbia holds every year, attendees will be able to purchase and learn about a wide array of plants including heirloom flowers, shrubs, vegetables, and perennials, all grown in Historic Columbia’s gardens. With many rare or hard-to-find varieties and our horticulture experts on-site to share growing tips and recommendations, this plant sale will elevate your garden to historic heights! A list of available plants will be posted below prior to the event.

The sale will be open to the public from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026, and 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2026. 

Become a Historic Columbia member at any level to take advantage of exclusive members only benefits including:

  • Access to the exclusive members-only online pre-sale March 25 – April 4, 2026, which includes three unique heirloom bundles available only to members.
  • Early access shopping hours from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2026.

  • Parking

    There is free street parking located around the Hampton-Preston Mansion. Please obey all posted parking signs. 

    Following your purchase, the back entrance on Laurel Street may be used to load your vehicle with plants, rain barrels, or compost bins. This gate entrance will be used only for pickup and parking for guests with accessibility needs.

  • Rain Barrels & Compost Bins

    City of Columbia Water and Richland County Stormwater are offering both rain barrels and compost bins at a discounted price to encourage residents to conserve precious water resources as well as to protect water quality. Both are available for pre-order now, and will be available for pick up at our Fall Plant Sale from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Deadline to place online orders is Wednesday, April 1st. A limited quantity will be available on-site for purchase, pending availability. Learn more information and pre-order now here!

     

  • Weather

    In the event of rain or inclement weather, the Spring Plant Sale will be held in the Boyd Foundation Horticultural Center, located at the rear of the Hampton-Preston Mansion Gardens.
