Hampton-Preston Garden : 1615 Blanding Street, Columbia, SC 29201

Join Chris Mathis, Horticulture Manager at Historic Columbia, on a guided tour of the diverse tree collection in the lush gardens of the Hampton-Preston Mansion and the Robert Mills House. From South Carolina natives to exotic species rarely seen in cultivation, each seasonal Tree Trek walking tour highlights a different set of trees, helping to grow your knowledge of the largest objects in our living collection. Tree treks are open to all nature lovers, whether you're a seasoned arborist or just tree-curious!

Please meet at the front gate of the Hampton-Preston Mansion Gardens, located on Blanding Street. 

  • Tickets

    HC Member: $10 
    Non-member: $15
    Tickets are required, and this event is capped at 30 participants. 

  • Accessibility

    Tree Treks involve standing for up to 75 minutes and walking across grass, gravel pathways, and paved surfaces. 

  • Parking

    There is free street parking located around the Hampton-Preston Mansion. Please obey all posted parking signs.

  • Weather

    This program will not take place in the case of inclement weather, and you will receive a refund or a ticket to a future Tree Trek. If the Tree Trek proceeds as planned, no refunds will be offered. Please check the forecast before arriving. 

    Please dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes.
