Joseph Winter likely photographed this angle of 907 Laurel Street to expose both the age of the building’s materials and the absence of modern conveniences and systems. The outbuilding’s position in the foreground of the photograph, taken in April of 1960, emphasizes the lack of indoor plumbing. Directly across the street from the Governor's Mansion, this home would have been slated for demolition during Urban Renewal.
