1230 Main Street
First Citizens Bank Building
Built in 2006, this bank building is among Main Street’s newest skyscrapers. Like many other contemporary buildings in this commercial district, it references an earlier style, while showing a departure from the classic influences seen elsewhere. Art Deco features include multi-light, vertically oriented windows, detailed exterior light fixtures, variable depths of the façade and an overall vertical orientation. Rather than placing the primary entrance to the building on Main Street, designers opted to situate i facing Lady Street.
