1001 Gervais StreetFor some historic properties, preservation efforts over the past three decades have reversed or obscured major changes made to them during the mid-20th century. Nowhere is this perhaps more true than with this circa-1900 commercial structure once heavily modified for use as an automobile tire store through the creation of bays along its west side and an imposing tile sign that covered a large portion of its historic façade. Sensitive exterior restoration work has since reversed those dramatic changes.
