A Site with a Larger Story
Completed in 1871, the Woodrow Wilson Family Home was built during Reconstruction and was home to 14-year-old Thomas Woodrow Wilson, the future 28th president of the United States. Today, it’s home to the Museum of the Reconstruction Era, which uses the Wilson family’s time in Columbia as a gateway to explore a complicated racial history marked by profound political, social, and cultural changes following the Civil War.
