Connecting Communities through History

Sharing the history of Columbia's communities through engaging wayside signage.

Description

Funding from a 2024 Richland County Conservation Commission grant empowered Historic Columbia to update and expand neighborhood and district signage as part of its Connecting Communities through History initiative. The project resulted in the fabrication of seven new interpretive signs in downtown Columbia and Richland County, as well as the production of seven revised signs in existing locations that now benefit from new content and graphics design. Today, the following communities feature these portals into local history:

Arsenal Hill | Blythewood | Congaree Vista Cottontown | Earlewood | Eastover | Elmwood Park | Forest Acres | Heathwood | Hollywood-Rose Hill (sponsored by HRHNA) | Lower Waverly | Melrose Heights | Old Shandon | Rosewood | Shandon
