The momentum of Historic Columbia’s intentional efforts to preserve Columbia rests on three key pillars:

  • Advocacy
  • Education
  • Preservation

Being a member at Historic Columbia matters to me. It has given me countless opportunities to anchor myself in this important cause and keeps my finger on the pulse of preservation that keeps our growing community engaged in Columbia’s rich and unique history.

If you’ve ever been a part of a Historic Columbia experience, you know that we are quite easily on the frontlines of landmark preservation and community engagement. It is no surprise that the re-emergence of Main Street has been so successful. On top of many great developments, there has been a commitment to preserving and re-using the buildings and structures that make Main Street as beautiful and special as it is today.

That preservation came about as a direct result of the advocacy from Historic Columbia, its staff, and its supporters. Getting it rezoned, providing a path for tax credits, and all in-between are reflective of just how invested we are in our city. Now, we have a great backdrop from which we can educate locals and tourists alike about Columbia’s history—good and bad.

Join us for big parties, the renovation rodeos, and down-under tours. We hope you stay with us to keep Columbia whole and feeling more like home.

Happy summer!
