Field Trips

Historic Columbia is happy to announce a new partnership with Colonial Life.

For the 2019-20 school year, Colonial Life is underwriting the admission cost for any Title 1 school in South Carolina so that students can experience Historic Columbia’s field trips, regardless of ability to pay. This partnership will give Historic Columbia the opportunity to impact the lives of over 2,500 students within the area in the coming school year. We are delighted to continue encouraging Columbia’s youth to explore and understand the historical significance of their own surroundings thanks to the support of our partners at Colonial Life. All school tours align with South Carolina academic standards.

“Colonial Life is excited to partner with Historic Columbia’s field trips program to extend hands-on learning opportunities to South Carolina’s students by connecting classroom curriculum with real-world experiences. Through our support of art and culture, we aim to spark creativity, enrich diversity and bring our communities to life.” -- Marie McGehee, Director, Corporate Social Responsibility, Colonial Life / UNUM

Our Education Department understands the limited schedules teachers often work with when scheduling off-site field trips, and we strive to be as flexible and accommodating as possible. Our education staff can adapt tours to fit within limited time constraints, or work with teachers to provide an entirely unique and immersive experience. Please contact the Education Department at kkinard@historiccolumbia.org, or 803.252.1770 x26, to learn more about our programs and to schedule a visit.
