Each summer, Historic Columbia holds two sessions of a summer day camp. History comes to life through interactive activities and exploration of the gardens, grounds, and houses of Historic Columbia. Campers ages 8 to 12 are invited to take an adventure in time as we explore what it was like to live in the past!
Summer Camp '68
This summer, kids got to travel fifty years back in time to explore life during the summer of 1968 at Historic Columbia’s Summer Camp ‘68!
Each day held a new adventure and a new theme, allowing campers the opportunity to learn about the various highlights from this pivotal year. Activities included making instruments and filming lip-synch videos to chart topping songs from 1968, running Olympic- themed relays, shooting rockets while learning about the Apollo 8 mission, making comics while reading about popular characters from the year (like the Black Panther, Captain Marvel, and Batman!) and much more!
Thank you to all of this year's participants! We hope to see you next time!
“These guys are fabulous at everything they do and the summer camp for kids further emphasized that. My daughter does summer day week camps all summer and has for years and this is the best we've ever seen. Super creative ideas and so much fun in a beautiful setting. Plus the counselors are fantastic... Laid back but organized. Highly, highly recommend. Can't wait for next year!” —Steph Zschunke Bilovsky
