Postponed - Closing Day at Capital City Stadium

Capital City Stadium : 301 Assembly St., Columbia, SC 29201

Due to ongoing efforts in the Columbia community to prevent the spread of COVID-19, Historic Columbia is postponing Closing Day at Capital City Stadium. For all attendees who have purchased tickets for this event, Historic Columbia will honor all purchases once the event has been rescheduled. Please contact Reservations at 803.252.1770 x 23 or reservations@historiccolumbia.org with further questions. Click here for more information.

Join Historic Columbia for a final farewell to this historic venue!

The celebration will include a tour through the stadium that will touch on some of the venue’s legendary moments, including the stories of players and teams who played there, the physical transformation of the stadium, racial integration of teams and fans and the history of baseball in Columbia.

Entertainment will be provided for visitors of all ages. Several children’s activities will be offered including appearances by local baseball mascots and baseball players. Food trucks serving traditional stadium food along with popsicles will also be set up as well as drink options from Craft & Draft Beer.

Closing Day at Capital City Stadium is free with available parking behind the stadium, by entering through the gate on Assembly Street.

  • Fond Memories?

Filmmaker Lee Ann Kornegay will be on hand April 4 to capture stories from visitors willing to share their memories of the stadium.
