Join Historic Columbia for a two-day professional development workshop on August 1st and 2nd from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

In partnership with the South Carolina Council for History Education, this year’s teacher workshop will explore the lives of Columbia women past and present, as researched through the Columbia City of Women project. Join us for pedagogical exploration, scholarly discussion, and FUN while we discuss ways to ensure women's stories are told holistically. Scheduled special events include a scholarly lecture from Dr. Val Littlefield, a tour of the Anne Frank Center at University of South Carolina, and an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of Peak Drift Brewing's operation at Smoked. Your workshop experience will conclude with a complimentary beverage from female master brewer, Ashley Kinart-Short, at this female-owned establishment in the heart of Main Street Columbia.

Continuing education credit is provided for this workshop. Registration includes lunch for both days and a t-shirt, and is $25 for Teacher Members and $30 for non-members.

Have you ever noticed that very few cities, streets, and statues are named for women? In Columbia, only 4 percent of our 145 landmarks are specifically named for women. Columbia City of Women believes in the power of moving through a city that recognizes women's achievements.
