Discover the untold stories of Jewish merchants in South Carolina! Join Rebecca Woodruff, Curator of History at Historic Columbia, in conversation with Judge Richard Gergel and Robert Rosen, as they delve into the intriguing history of Jewish merchants from across the state. Also joining the conversation is Dr. Diane Vecchio, whose book Peddlers, Merchants, and Manufacturers: How Jewish Entrepreneurs Built Economy and Community in Upcountry South Carolina, came out in January 2024.

This online "Conversations" series is presented by the Jewish Historical Society of South Carolina. Admission is free, but registration is encouraged. Reserve your spot today!

This conversation is based on research completed by Historic Columbia since 2017. The Jewish Merchants Project is an offshoot of Historic Columbia's Columbia Jewish Heritage Initiative, in partnership with the Jewish Historical Society of South Carolina.
