LGBTQ Columbia

Help Us Tell Your Story!

This October, Historic Columbia will unveil a collection of StoryMaps that highlight the contributions of LGBTQ Columbians as well as the stigma and discrimination they've faced.

So far, with the help of local donors and the University of South Carolina, we've uncovered numerous advertisements for bars, events, and organizations, and even a few photographs, bar cards, and posters. But we still need your help. To make these stories come alive, we'd love to include your photographs. Do you have a photo of yourself having fun at Traxx or The Candy Shop? What about a group photo at an early Pride picnic? Below is a list of our most pressing requests. We're looking for photographs of buildings themselves as well as people at events.

If you have photographs you'd like to share, please contact kallen@historiccolumbia.org. Historic Columbia can make archival scans of these photographs or will accept photographs that you've already scanned.
